Environmental Tips

Avoid

Where possible, avoid creating greenhouse gas emissions. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Ride a bike
  • Walk
  • Purchase accredited GreenPower
  • Try a teleconference or Skpe rather than travelling to a meeting, only attend a meeting if your attendance adds value.
  • Switch appliances off at the wall instead of using standby power settings
  • Empty rooms don't need lighting, turn them off

Reduce

If you can not avoid creating an emission, reduce the emission you do create by doing things differently or finding a technological alternative.

  • Use public transport
  • Carpool
  • Schedule more than one activity per trip
  • Replace lighting with energy efficient globes
  • Wear an extra jumper rather than turning on the heating
  • Use scrap paper rather than a notepad
  • Buy local, in-season produce

Drive your car more efficiently

  1. Reduce speed to reduce fuel consumption
  2. Avoid rapid acceleration and hard breaking
